Transmission Bearing Replacement???

I finished building my truck this year, new 22RE with Marlin Tranny and Transfer case with Heavy duty bearings and I have about 8,000 miles on it but it started whining. It doesn't do it in 4th gear yet or when the clutch is pushed in??? Mechanic thinks it's the bearings of the tranny but that's just a guess from hearing it. Any ideas? Marling wont do anything because I actually purchased it more than a year ago even thought it's only been on the road 6 months! Can I replace the bearing myselt relatively easily?? Any help/pictuers would be greatly appreciated......Thanks for your time...TIM

if it is a W56, it is probably the 5th gear bearing. i had the same thing happen to me. bought a HD W56 trans. from marlin and 1 month after the warranty went out so did the 5th gear bearing. i know marlin is great, but i wonder about what they replace on there rebuild. the second trans i got from them wasn't much better, but i will let the new owner worry about it. i would like to find another source for transmission. i don't know about rebuilding, or replacing the bearings. somebody within the last month posted a question about rebuild the W56. search and see if you can find it and PM them. good luck. i feel your pain, 1000 bucks down the drain.
