trans pump removal
I have a 1987 4Runner with a a340h auto transmission. The pump O-Ring seems to be leaking.
I was looking thru the FSM to how to remove the Pump on the a340h transmission. it shows a tool is used I do not have. it looks to be a pitman arm and transmission pump remover.
Any DIY ways to get it out? I tried to use google and looked but didn't find the info I needed.
thanks.

There are approximately 8 bolts that hold the pump on. Two of the bolt holes in the pump housing are threaded to allow you to stick a 10x1.25mm bolt in them. I made a slide hammer attachment with a 10x1.25mm thread so I can tap the pump out. Assuming you don't have a slide hammer and the desire to make an attachment, you should be able to stick two bolts in each of the threaded holes and pull on them with vise grips. A back and forth wiggle motion helps to get the pump out.
If the pump has been removed before I can sometimes just pull it out with my hands pulling on the bolts I inserted. If it has been on there since 1987 a few taps from the slide hammer helps.
