trailer question!

hi guys,
i have a 95 yota truck 4x4 with the 22re.
whats the biggest trailer you guys would use?
would the small enclosed uhaul trailer be ok?
2000 miles.

and could i just attach a ball on my bumper or would i need a hitch set up?

thanks in advance.

How much weight are you planning to pack into the trailer?

Personally I would use no bigger then a 5x8 enclosed trailer with a toy with 4cyl for that many miles. Do you have an auto tranny?

Your better off with a class 3 or 4 hitch. I'm thinking the ball on the bumper might be too high.

bumper ball are normally rated between 100 & 250 lbs tongue weight, not sure about pull weight. check your manual or the dealer. The best is to use a hitch. be sure not to go over on the weight, the fines are big if you get caught

the weight would not be all that much.
im throwing around the idea of moving back out to calif from mn...but id go south to skirt the mtns...because theres no way id make it through the rockeys....barely made it through last yr without a trailer lol.

so maybe a mattress, small walmart dresser, fish aquarium, clothes and misc small stuff.
so not to heavy.
do you think it would be fine?
i have a manual trasmission btw.

anyone pulled with there 22re?
how much would it cost for a hitch?

You can get a frame hitch for $100-150. That's what I would do.
No problem pulling a small uhaul with your household stuff in it.
I pulled *way* more than that many miles with my 22RE/5sp.
The usual admonishments - take extra time to stop, save your brakes on downgrades by downshifting and going a bit slower, be smooth etc.

Yes, but you need a hicth for the truck the ball will not do it. The ball is rated at 100 lbs tounge and 1500 tow. Get a hitch and you will so time and money. Do not speed and use the brake to stop all the time down shift to slow down. Wacth all gauge, check out the truck and trailer when you stop for Gas.

they all hit the nail on the head....ive trailered a 24' long double axle behind my 4runner with its class 3 and beefed up rear suspension. It DEFINATELY didnt like pulling that trailer so I drove back home and pulled it with the k3500 diesel...lol Even the 6.5LTD dually was weighted down a little with it. Net wieght for the dually and trailer was 10,000 so I figure that trailer was a good 2500-3500. As long as the trailer is loaded properly you should be able to haul up to 3000 or so with a class 3 on that id guess. Confirm by reading your owners manual however.

That was the speed before the speed change. I would not go over 55 to 60 mph. That is me.

I pulled this all over Oregon with my 85 4Runner. A buddy pulled his (same boat) with a friggin Subaru wagon for many years. FYI the boat weighs 1350, the trailer about 900, and I figure sailing gear, camping gear and beer for a weekend regatta is at LEAST another 500 lbs. Figure close to 3000 lbs all done. No worries.
