I have a 91 22re and I've been having a lot of troubles lately. So when I start it at first it idles perfectly but when it gets warmed up it starts to cut out every 2-3 seconds almost like one of the cylinders is missing. So I was wondering if a maladjusted TPS would cause it to do such a thing?

 

Oh I forgot to mention I replaced the TPS recently And was in a hurry so I dont think i adjusted it correctly.

 

I'm going on a whim and saying yes. Mine does the same thing and is bad, but adjusted correctly.

 

I'm going to adjust tomorrow when the engine is cold. Any ideas on how to make it easier to do? Like maybe running a wire from the two terminals to the multimeter?

Hmmm...i got mine from snap-on but for the average Joe I'd try radio shack

Just replaced mine and I have to say that it makes sense to remove the Throttle Body and do it that way. It is so much easier this way and you can address some other possible things causing your issue. Such as a dirty IAC or Throttle Body. After doing so my truck is running like a Swiss watch. Consort with the FSM for proper adjustment or 4crawler has a great write up as well.

 

Have your neighbor or wife hold the wires while you adjust. Makes it 10x easier. Or alligator clips.
