Will a 22r 4x4 late 80 pickup tow a 2 seater buggy with a little 1600 in it? My brother wants a toy pickup but wants to tow the buggy were building with it. Is this possible with liek a tow bar? should it have enough power if it has stock 31 tires on it? thanks for the help

I've had some vw buggy's, I would say with a T-Trailer you should be OK. Yes you can tow them with tow bars.

5 speed will be your saving grace. You should be able to flat tow it ok. might be a bit slow on the hills but shouldnt be a major problem

yea... def no automatics. The buggy with an engine is light enough for 2 people to push it up our steep driveway and the tranny is light enough to put in with one person and the motor takes 2 people to install it so its not very heavy lol. I got a little 2x4 polaris ranger and it pulls a freakin 18 foot ski boat with an engine and everyhting in it so i think it should tow ok.

I've flat towed buggies, and towed them on t-trailers. Believe it or not, It felt like I was pulling less on a t-trailer. If some of you haven't seen a t-trailer, It's basicly a small boat trailer, ussualy you load the buggy with the trailer un hitched and the rear tires sit at the rear of the trailer and the front tires just hang.

I would think an auto would give an advantage with the torque converter, but either way, unlock front hubs, put in 4-low and it will move. Stopping it is the issue.

I had a chevy s-10 with a manual and it would not move on an incline if I tried to tow 3'000 pounds, where an automatic could manage it. If your clutch slips, there is nothing you can do about it unless your in 4low. eitheen wheelers are stick but have 12 or more gears, in case that point comes up.
