Tow package question

Hey everyone, it has taken some time but looks like I will be closing the deal on a 94 runner this week with a locked 3VZE engine. The truck doesn't have a trailer hitch which looks like to me is just the horizontal bar that bolts to those 2 big frame flanges hanging down from the rear. So my question is... what else was included in the oem tow package? After adding the hitch and wiring, will I need to also add an additional trans cooler, or a bigger one? Or anything else?

The right rear door has a broken window, the little triangular one. Not sure what their really called. But I found one for 50 bucks which seems reasonable.
I guess i'll be pulling my first 3VZE, kinda excited about it actually, and I know the dogs will enjoy riding in the rear! :bounce2:
I guess i'll tear into the motor and se how bad it is b4 making a decision on how far to go. rebuild it, short block or long.
Thanks again.
Chris

FWIW: i have a brand new/never been used Draw-Tite Receiver/Hitch for 87-92 4Runners. Draw-Tite part # 75023. i am not sure if you can make it work on the 94, though. Contact Draw-Tite.

if its a auto than a tranny cooler is a must also just pull out the 3.0 and drop in a 3.4

Maybe they don't want that extra stress on the motor to help cut back on the motors they have to fix under warranty.

probably a warranty thing, if you wanted one for towing, they'd probably give you the same engine and charge you more

i bought my hitch from u-haul, they didn't give me enough washers but the rest of the install went pretty easy. ran me about $150 or so.

cooler

I'm actually running two tranny coolers. The first is approximately 10" x 5" then runs into a 15" x 10". Everything stays cool even when going in and out of O/D on the highway for extended trips.

How and where did you squeeze all that in? Do you have any pics you can post or send?

cooler

The small cooler is behind the front grill. It then runs into the large cooler which is behind the skid plate. If you really need pictures I can borrow my girls digital camera.

On the tow package did it come with it's own little radiator on the rear passanger side.91 4runner auto 4x4.Some people say it's for the tranny others say it's for the transfer case.I'm going to install trans oil cooler this week-end and I was thinking of putting it where the small one is.
Thanks,Mike
