tow package

Hi all
Just bought a 95 4runner SR5 with 4.56 gears/5 speed/31x10.5's....was there a tow package from the factory and what did it consist of?
Thank you all...

My '94 came with a class II hitch and a wiring harness tucked up under the left rear fender, along with the interface box that takes the amber turn signals and red brake lights and combines them onto a single circuit for trailers. I assume that's what constituted the "towing package" back then.

I've towed a 2200 lb pop-up across the Colorado mountains several times with mine. As @dropzone says, it's not the ideal tow vehicle, but if you keep the rpms up it will get the job done. It was very stable at 65-70 mph. I don't think I'd go beyond 2500-3000 lbs however, at least not for any distance.

Since I got the '06 with the V8, I don't tow with the '94 anymore.

I think it consisted of a class II hitch and a straight line 4 pin type lighting harness.

I doubt there's anything special about the brakes, because the parts stores never ask about towing packages when I buy brake pads. I suspect the radiator is the same. These things cool well as long as the plumbing is clean, etc. I towed that trailer over Monarch pass multiple times - 10 miles uphill at 4200 rpm in 2nd gear. The temperature needle never budged. Brakes were adequate for that weight trailer (assuming downshifting on long downhills), but above that weight you'd want trailer brakes, anyway.

Can anybody produce any Toyota part numbers for these supposedly 'heavy duty' radiators that are different than normal???

Yes, the brochure is for trucks only.

don't have one for 4runners. Trucks should be close though. My post above was for 2wd trucks. 4wd trucks don't list a tow package, and refers to the towing guide.

Below are the towing guide specs including 4runner for 1990
