Most would say 1.5 inches.

More an issue of ride quality and suspension down travel. You will need to "mess" with the alignment, no matter what height you set them at.

a brush guard weighs nothing but a TJM or a ARB with a winch will weigh it down a little

If you go with 33x10.50s on the stock wheels, should be no problem. Put 12.50 wide tires or run wider than stock wheels and you may need some additional lift. How much does the brush guard weigh? Unless it is well over 100 lbs. brobably will make little difference up front.

Also notice that norcalsvx runs fiberglass fenders. This will make a difference in how much lift he needs to clear the tires. I run 33x9.50 with stock fenders on turned up torsion bars and low profile upper bump stops with very little rubbing, but also not much downtravel. I have the BJ spacers sitting on the shelf and hope to get them in soon. You really need some combination of lift, fenders and body lift to get additional clearance.

With 33x10.50s on stock rims, no problem fitting them with that lift.

If you simply "crank" your torsion bars, you're going to be VERY disappointed with your ride quality. You need to have the A-arms equally between the bump stops for proper ride/handling. Cranking is a ricers answer to more clearance...
