ive been trying to look for the torsion bar in my 94 4runner i cant find it. were is it and how does it look like. pics would help thanks

whats your purpose in removing the torsion bar?
If you look under the truck right next to the inside of the frame each side
. Dude EVERYONE should have a chilton or haynes book to locate stuff like this and learn alot of new things. I know I am. I would recommend the chilton guide though I don't really care for the haynes I have for my runner.

 

Maybe this will help, it is just a generalization.

 

BTW, the dohickey is located right next to the thingamajig

 

Which is just under the whatchamacallit...

 

It is on top of the frame rail, starting at the back of the upper control arm and it goes to about mid truck. It looks like a long round...well, torsion rod.

No offence, but it sounds like you shouldn't be touching anything to do with the suspension on your truck.

oh ok i found it why do people use the torsion bar to lift the truck an inch or so

 

because it's free and takes 5 minutes

 

may i also add, it stiffens and harshens the ride as well, not recomended to crank higher then one inch

 

Word. Don't do it if you can avoid it. IMO, it's better to have a size smaller tire than to crank the tbar. It just isn't worth it.
