Funny thing is, a few years ago when I was at the New Westminster court house paying a ticket, there was a sign saying "as of (whatever date it was), fees will go up $30, but if you pay it before 30 days, you get $25 off".

Therefore, you are still paying 5 bucks more even after the 'discount'

They're not illegal to install, just depending on when you're using them they could be illegal. for instance- if you were working on the side of the road or trailing a slow moving vehicle you would likely get away with them since they'd be used for safety purposes. I've been looking into doing this since I sometimes work on the side of the road on cell sites and I have asked about it and been told by CHP that this type of usage would be acceptible for strobe lights. They can be amber or white all around and red is acceptible on the rear.

Wouldn't you just get a ticket for dangerous driving? I call bad idea.

Amber, white, and green are all legal. They are listed as auxiliary warning devices.

I was a volunteer firefighter in high school. I had red strobes on my truck. We couldn't use them on the road, but we could go to calls with POV and I used them when parked on the street. When I left the department I changed them to green and had them for years.

As I said earlier, you just would have been charged for dangerous driving causing an accident.

Your tags should be good until the end of the month.
Actually.....they are good until the renewal date. A cops not gonna run current tags just to see if he could catch you by a day or so, but since he already had you pulled over, he probably discovered it when running the plate and just added it to the bill. Bad luck.
