Too much blue!

Acording to the popo. Just got an $81 ticket for having blue lights in my side markers... But at least I get $25 knocked off if I pay it within 30 days.

Funny thing was the cop had been tailgating me for about 1-2kms. Like, so bad I couldnt see his headlights in my rearview mirror....
What a jerk. They even had two cop cars there... I guess I look suspicious..

At least he didn't give me a VI

blue exterior lights are illegal most everywhere, with blue being reserved for emergency / law enforcement vehicle lighting.

sorry. could be worse though.

Meh, have had them in for almost a damn year, been through countless roadblocks, never been an issue.

I really thought the cops would nail me for the lack of fender flares.

Too bad, stockers will be going back in tomorrow... Weak!

And yes, it could have been worse. He could have given me a box 2 and I wouldve had to take my truck to get inspected. Which means I would have to put flares on, mud flaps, new front window, seat covers (ripped seats will fail your ride!).... That would probibly bankrupt me right now...

Yeah, I felt it was a little silly. Considering they could only be seen from the side when the headlights where on. But I did some re-search and I saw they stated blue lights where illegal, plain and simple.

My blue guage lights can be seen from outside, lets hope I don't get in trouble for that

Yea it all depends on if you get a bored cop. Cops who pick apart your truck are jerks.

Yeah. It states in the VI checklist, any rips in the seat warrent a fail.
But they accept seat covers as repairs

Sounds like logic to me!

No kidding! I guess having two little blue lights is a horrific thing. I guess they hurt alot of people.... or perhaps they mistook my pickup for a police cruiser

2 things... 1 did you have your head/parking lights ON at the time so they were lit up? and 2, if they were off, then you can easily defeat them seeing them as blue bu getting bulbs that have the mirror finish when turned off... but light up the desired color when on... i believe that stylin concepts sell em...

I've been pulled over numerous times for white LEDs in my sidemarkers... It was the same cop every time though. He said that they looked too "blue". He never gave me a ticket, but I ended up switching them out to amber LEDs just to avoid the hassle.

Thats a good attitude, man. If you know you were breaking the law, why try and fight it? You knew you were, you got caught, you gotta pay the penalty.
Would have been nice if he gave you a warning though...or a "fix/repair" ticket.

Atleast when you got pulled over you weren't blasting the song "Breakin the law" by Judas Priest in your truck at a stoplight... Been there, Done that..

I had a cop turn around and follow me for 5 miles thru a 25 zone, and as soon as it jumped back up to a 55 i started to speed up, and the lights came on. he gave me a warning for having burned out license plate lights. so yes a lot of cops are bored.

oh, and in some states blue lights are used for other things. in ny cops use blue & red, and volunteer fire personal vehicles get blue lights.

here in ontario they just started using red/blue on police cruisers, although, most have a more purple hue. our snow plows use mainly blue and combined with yellow/amber. fire and ambulance use red/white.

we can use blue but you have to have some sort of certification for snow plowing and have your vehicle inspected. here, so long as the flashing red is NOT facing front and not out of sequence and NOT looking too much like police/emergency vehicles, you are ok!

fellow ontarians, dont quote me on this as i spoke with a sgt a while back in general on this so i could be somewhat inaccurate.

lee

ps

hey jay, sorry to hear about your ticket, nice though that they give you a discount!

Yea, down here in the good ol' state of Tennessee we don't have to worry about passing state emissions or anything like that. But i got nailed the other day... the cop was sitting 2/10's of a mile past the speed limit sign, in a corner, not giving me anytime to slow down. Also got me for having a smoked license plate cover... but not for my 5% tint b/c i got my front windows rolled down in time!

Or F the Police, by NWA. lol been there done that.

I seriously try to abide by the law the best I can when it comes to regulations like that. I don't like the hassle, and if you have most things good, ie: mudflaps, bumpers, functioning lights (inc license plate lights), etc, you can play dumb on other stuff and usually get away with a warning. If its the law and you are not following it, no matter how stupid you think it is, you are bound to get pulled over, and you can't complain about it. I think most cops frown on custom, period.
