hi all yes this is another tire question. i have 16" taco rims on my runner and i want smaller tires to match my gearing 22re 5speed. so im asking for advice on size and model i dont ofroad much and have 15" mt for that im looking for cheap stockish sized 16" tires Thanks

 

I think some of them came with 225-75's.

 

If you want MPG, get the most car-like tire you can find. Off road tread hurts MPG. Stock your tires were around 28" tall so you can work from there.

Yeah, it is pretty small. You can go up in size a bit, there is room to play there. Just, the more aggressive a tread pattern the higher the rolling resistance and aerodynamic drag. Also, the more plies within a tire (the more durable), the heavier it is and thus is requires more fuel to get rolling.

Street tires are just plain good for the street.

Just to give you an idea, I'm running a 31" mud style tire on my '94 22R-E Truck with stock 4.10 gears and I get 18 MPG. When I was running a 32" AT on steel wheels I got 16-17, When I first got the Truck it had 30" P-rated tires and it got a pretty consistent 20-22 MPG.

you could go back to stock tire size and a get a tire like a toyo H/T highway street tire. My grandpa has a set on his chevy half-ton 2wd truck and they work great. quiet and little rolling resistance. My dad and I both have the toyo a/t's and they both roll really well compared to the tires we used to have.
