I really like these tires but think they might be too much tire for my stock truck in terms of the motor being able to handle them, and I guess I'd need to regear too huh?...what do you guys think?

4.88 or 5.29 gears would be in order.

 

i ran stock gears w/ 33x10.50's and smoked my clutch and cracked the flywheel it can be done but it just sucks, get some 4.88's

 

you will be fine, turns your 5spd into a 4spd. ive had 2 sets of those tires they do well. and ive ran 35x10:50 boggers with a stock 22re and stock gears. it was a slugg on the hwy but an animal on the trail! gears would be a plus.

 

had 35s on my 86 4runner it was gutless 22re had no power smoked 2 clutches would not recomend

These tires LOOK good. IMHO, they are not good enough offroad to justify how bad they are on-road. They SUCK on road. Seriously.

Mine were the same height as Molly's 35's - this is a BIG heavy tire to turn, and even with 4.88's the power loss over my 33's is considerable.

Did I mention how bad these suck on the road?

like i said used my truck for what it designed for i did a lot of rock climbing over boulder bigger than my tires i made a lot of alternitive routes had stock gearing motor did more than the gearing "rip flipper" before retireing rolled 7 times. go out with bang new 88 4runner in progress will list late listed under bigblock yota

where i live there are lots of hills and i had a stock clutch and on steep hills in 1st it would just work my clutch (drove for about 2-3 months) it was fine in 4lo and when the truck was moving.

 

Thanks for all the info...Guess for now I will keep looking for 31's, just wish they made that pizza cutter in a 31.
And I guess having tires that dont suck on the road is a plus.
