timing/vacum/ compresion tests....

The search button has been my refernce for the last two weeks....
I just finished doing...ignition timming..vacum test and a compression test..(dry)...all test done with engine at operating temp....
-Check for t.d.c at 0 deg..good (ruffly checked with a screw driver through the #1 sparke plug hole) hahahahhaaa
-Ignition timming...5 deg b.t.d.c..all good
-Vacum test...indicated sticky/broken valve spring...
-Compression test ...dissconected the ignition wire..wife held the (throttle open) pedal to the floor and turned over 4 times pr/cyl
On the first stroke all cyl had 90 psi then right up to...
#1...165
#2...155
#3...150
#4...150
I am doing these test because i seem to be low on power going up hills...from what ive read the EGR is the next test...?
Also im getting a rattlling noise at 3000-3500 rpm...
A little info on my rig 4:10 gears running 31x10.5xR15..
Any ideas or info from the experinced would be greatly appreciated.....thanks

Probably the biggest one for your uphill power is 4.10s and 31"s. Smaller/stock tire or lower (4.56) gearing will help. Do a valve adjustment too, see if that points out any issues, and then check/set timing and run vacuum gauge again.

Forgot to add in my first post i was also getting a rattling noise at 3000-3500 rpm, thought it was a sticky/broken valve spring......
So i made sure it was at T.D.C.....

the dizzy pointing #1 cylinder

removed the valve cover and.......discovered broken timing chain guide......

and the chain had jumed out of sink...

The guide is still there, it broke at the top and at the bolt, but the guide is still in one peice......
one valve cover gasket kit with gromets and half moons ordered...also i have ordered the 4 piece front end kit from ENGNBLDR.. ..wicked price... it was going to cost me almost 450$ canadian.

I have one question....i read somewhere in a thread about (timing chain replacment)...that i should break the cam bolt loose (bumping the starter) before draining oil/coolant and to avoid spraying fuel..is this just a trick of the trade....the haynes book says to loosen the bolt after draining and disconecting everything....
