Did you have a HG blow before you rebuilt it?

if not, what was the reason for the rebuild?

What motor is it?

Did you flush the block and cooling system(radiator and overflow) when you performed the rebuild?

Your timing being off should not have caused the problem. This is something more than that.

You must have put the wrong gasket on each head. They are not the same.
10 teeth off will not make the pipe red. Crossed up head gaskets will. I presume the temperature gage is headed off scale? With water in oil you best pull it back down and have a look at how you installed the head gaskets. Keep running it and you will trash it from the water in the oil........guaranteed and real soon.

Wow, glowing red manifold hunh? Sometimes if the fuel is too rich in a carb'ed engine it will do that. Might want to check that out if it is. But if the oil looks like a milk shake, then your head gasket is fried from that heat. Hope you didn't warp that head!
