timing jumper connector?

can some one show me a picture of where i need to put a jumper wire in a 22rtec to check the timing. The haynes book shows a plug with about 9 pins on it and i cant find one on my truck. I am h.aving a hard time keeping my idle at 5 degrees btdc. When i set it and then rev the motor it jumps way back.Im i off a tooth ,can i pull the distributor out and turn the rotor

86 Trucks dont have the 9-pin OBD1 Port, they didn't start that until 1987.

You should have two round plugs that are on the drivers side, and plug into some rubber caps that are attached to the left side upper inner fender. I believe the bigger one is the one you jump.

If your timing chain is off a tooth, no you cant just set the distributor back one tooth, becuase mechanically the cam and crank are still out of alignment.
