timing belt issues
ok so i'm stuck on this and i've repeated the timing belt over and over and over and i'm ready to just destroy my truck its a 93 4runner v-6 3.0 4wd i recently replaced the water pump and also did a timing belt change and the truck ran fine for a month and then one day it woudlnt start up so i figured wires gas etc so i pulled the timing belt cover off and found that the timing had belt had jumped so i reset it and fired the truck up and shut it off then tried to restart it and it wouldn't start checked the timing belt and it had jumped so i've repeated it over several times and when i turn the belt to check it and has moved a tooth everytime so i figured i had a bad belt so i bought a new one same thing skipping a tooth round everytime so i bought a new hydraulic tensioner tried that still the samething the gears appear to be in good shape i'm just lost as of what to do now any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks and sorry this is so long but wanted to be detailed as possible

The belt markings will move a tooth every revolution. It made my first timing belt change take a lot longer than it should have! Just turn the crankshaft until it lines up with its mark and then if the camshaft markings are very close, then you're OK.
Your no start problem is probably something else.

Correct. After the initial installation, the timing belt marks will be off after the first rotation. When you install the timing belt and line up the pulley marks, rotate the crank two full revolutions and recheck the pulley marks. If they still (all 3) line up then the belt is fine.
The no-start problem needs to be diagnosed in the standard manner:
--No crank: check the battery, battery cables, ign sw, neutral safety sw (auto), clutch sw/start relay (manual)
--cranks but won't start: check for spark, fuel, and air
Download the FSM (sticky at the top) and follow the troubleshooting guide section in the engine part to find out where to start.

thanks unfortunately i found this out for myself today wow i feel like an idiot haha but anyways i tested the ignition coil today and found there was no ohm reading on it so i'm going to try and replace that and hope like hell it works wow wow i'm a plumber not a mechanic lol but thats how i learn thanks again i'll give updates if this was my problem

well come to find out my ohms meter was screwed up in wasn't the ignition coil i oped up the mass air flow meter and found that the points inside were touching eachother and causing the truck not to start wow all so simple for so much work

I had a similar problem. I did a waterpump, timing belt change along with spark plugs, and after it was all together the truck wouldn't start. Crank and almost start, but never start. I must've put that timing belt on 15 times before giving up and saying it wasn't that. Come to find out there was a small crack in my intake hose. That was all. But it's all good now !!

I really wish they did not put those marks on the belts, they confuse people all the time. The marks on the pulleys and the crank are there, they are all you need, and they are the gold standard on if your valve train it timed to the crank correctly.

I,m taking a break from my timing belt install, I did actually have it on correctly. but just had to have those stupid little marks line up so I started over. I,m probably going to just explode. If you see a mushroom cloud over Indiana it's my head. lol I'll have it on in a little bit, just counting to ten to remain calm
