want to tackle the timing belt fairly soon.
done it in other cars, but never this.

so, if you know of any links or all the steps in the process, i would be appreciative. (tools needed too)

 

Sort of a long list of parts.

I would suggest doing water pump, upper and lower idler bearings, and front main seal while you are in there. Cheap insurance i say. Its sort of a PITA to tear the front of those things apart.

Need a timing belt done? I can do those too! heh.

those chilton and haynes books are junk.

 

i don't have any books!- besides the owner manual.

is it online? or do they still make the paper kind (i would prefer the c.d. but also dont want to spend more than 5 bucks on a book. (i will check w/used stores, or the library and photocopy everything i need)

 

Toyota doesn't make a CD version. I think Chiltons does, but again its just not very good quality.

You might be able to find a book through the dealer, but likely you will have to find one from Ebay, or a similar source.

You will not find one for $5, they typically are $40 or more. I have 3, one for each of my 4runners. I will never go back to Clintons or Haynes. Ever. The FSM's have saved me so much time and money just by giving me simple things like testing resistance, and things like that.

I just recently bought a Dodge truck, and Im trying to find one for that two. Apparently there are 4.....wowsa........but I will step up and pay for it. Better than a $500 trip to the dealer or 10 trips to the parts store trying to figure out whats wrong.
