Timing
Hi87 22re 98,000 milesWith diagnostic port jumped and engine lite flashing once, idle drops ever do slightly I read 12 °and when jumper is removed it shoots up to 16. My distributors is rotated to the max and cannot retard timing to the jumped 5 degrees. I put a new used distributer in couple months ago, did everything by the book. Thing is it runs great, no detonation or misfiring until you get in a hill and if you do not have the rooms up in power range she quickly gives into a crawl, just shy of a stall which it has also done. It's an Itasca rv do she carries some weight. The last tank is gas I got 16 mpg the best ever and up from previous high of 24. It acts the same as low fuel pressure and have put new filter in, no help and an going to tests the pressure today but that will not fix my timing being so advanced, ideas, solutionsThanks

If you have the distributor drive gear installed off by one tooth, that will move the range of adjustment by about 28°. It doesn't sound like you're off that far, but it's an easy mistake to make, and "re-stabbing" (?) the distributor isn't that difficult. http://web.archive.org/web/201212070...13distribu.pdf (Check the o-ring when you do that; they don't last forever.)
