anyone have and good suggestions for a timing kit? Seen a few on ebay, but im guessing that it is better to go to Yota and pay out the ying yang for one.

This is an oem supplier for Toyota. Same parts without paying for the name.

some parts sources:

Timing kit ....DAYCO from www.advanceauto.com (had used discount codes)
freeze plugs, exhaust studs..... LC Engineering
Toyota engine overhaul gasket set / other stuff from www.dealerdirectparts.com
if you take the time to read through my son's thread (in my sig), you will see how I arrived at those parts from those particular places. hopefully I can be some help to you since his is an 88 as well.
