time for new hubs (87 4runner)
im junkyarding for a set of manual hubs so i can get rid of my broken auto hubs on my 87 4runner. im assuming (since the hubs on wabfab are good for 86-95) i can use 86-95 hubs but im probably wrong... because i usually am. any help here will be greatly appreciated. most places im looking offer at least a 30 day warranty on their parts so im not worried about buying used.
i know i need a conversion kit to switch from auto to manual, ill pick that up from wabfab. id buy his hubs too but i cant manage $250 for them right now.

Just let me warn you that if you get a "used" set of manual hubs a lot of times all the parts are NOT there. I buy tons of manual hubs and there are a lot of little things that can be missing that make them not function...the biggest being the little ball and spring, the pawl spring not seated correctly, the big spring in backwards or bent, too much grease.
If you get a set of used manual hubs buy them from someone reputable and if you go to a pick and pull make sure all the parts are there before you pay for them and take them home.
I have some tech articles on my website that show the guts and what all should be there. Nothing worse than getting a great looking set of manual hubs that are useless cause they are missing a coule little pieces.
I also really hate it when I find a set that looks like it has been beat on by an 800 lb gorilla cause the person was too impatient or ignorant to take the cone washers off properly.
Reputable manual hubs cost money, cheaper sets you roll the dice.

for real, at this point id kill even for add. i cant believe almighty toyota would make hubs that dont work in reverse.
thanks wabbit, im sure ill be sending some money your way for parts. im a broke college kid so i have to get something cheap and rely on the warranty... im even cutting into the beer budget to work on the 4runner

Like Brian said, reputable hubs cost money, cheaper sets you roll the dice. The stuff we sell at Nix99 does cost more, but you get good stuff that fits right the first time, and the peace of mind knowing someone like me is pulling your order and making sire it is complete the first time.
