Thicker Weight Oil stopped Bad chatter and pinging?

I recently changed the oil in my truck from 10w30 to 10w40 for the summer and for some reason the bad noise i had which i thought was timing chain and pinging has now been taken down to a minimal. I posted on here before about my noise and its in the video link but it has stopped from happening 90% of the time to 30% of the time. now all i here is standard 22r valve chatter kinda like a sewing machine. But for some reason when the bad noise happens the engine idle goes to 1200 instead of its normal 950... which is weird.... and only starts happening upon warm-up with drving it more than 10 mins. Any ideas lol.

The noise was probably the lifters. I had a similar problem with my f150, it did it when it was cold and I changed the oil with a thicker weight and it stopped. I wouldn't worry too much about the noise, but that's just me.

Watch the vid its def not just valves, valves i don't believe cause pinging unless its improper grade fuel or egr is acting up. But mine does it only when hot not cold. It acctaully runs better overall when cold. after warm-up she starts that noise and performace kinda varys....and yea only rocker arms in 22rs lol no lifters lol.

See i've messed with this before but i don't think its chain slap. The timing chain and gudies were done with the head gasket 45k miles ago.... So i don't see why its chain... at least i don't want it to be its a good bit of work. But why would chain slap happen sometimes and not all time. If it was chain slap it would be all time right? And why would the thicker oil subdue it alittle? The valve chatter is still there and always will be but it gets extreme to a diff noise and warm-up and with pinging at least it did until i put thicker oil... but it still happens 30% of the time....

you are in serious need of some valve work/ adjustment and mabey then it would be easier to track down the noise without all of the valve chatter. Any internal nosies like that are really only three things. Valves/top end, timing chain and compenents and low end compenents.

Sounds like the timing chain tensioner is wore out or broken. Check it pretty quick before it eats up the timing cover.

Thats the point whats the average life of timing chain guides? I mean 45k? Thats way too soon but neilan is on a right track kinda i know theres alot of valve chatter but theres other distict noises.... if guides have gave out already then they must have been el cheapo. Plus i dunno whats cuasing the pinging either.... it sounds exactly like a diesel with bookoo pinging about 30-40% of the time and only does it upon warm-up....other than that it sounds like classic sewing machine 22r pretty quite.... The whole front end of the motor is basically new from 40k ago along with all chain and guides tensioners pumps gaskets everything. ITs def not a low end noise its more to the top.
