Well, one way or another I've heard about several e-fan problems when there is an auto involved, but none with the 5-speed.

Yeah 33s with 4.88 in the 3.0 auto must bog a lot, can you even use OD? I tried that combo for a few months before I went to 5.71s.

Mechanical fans are almost always better. The only advantage of an e-fan is that you save a couple HP and you can have a little extra air at idle. But once you get up to speed, you fan is basically freewheeling so it doesn't really matter. A mechanical fan really needs a shroud, too. !!

Man I wish that were true for me. I live in San Diego and when it's hot enough, which it is often, that fan turns on most of the time. It's loud and makes the truck slower. I'd love to replace it.

I have 4.88's 31's, and the auto 3.0.
