testing fan

So I think I may have figured out my over cooling issue, I believe my fan is not free wheeling. How am I able to test out if my fan clutch free spins or is sticking? When the motor is turned off the fan does spin, but with a fair resistance.

Did you try spinning it? You can usually tell if the clutch is messed up. It shouldn't spinn freely, but should spin.

Over cooling is usually contributed to a thermostat issue. Have you changed it out, or do you know what temp it's supposed to work?

Yes I have already changed out my thermo. I am betting on the fan because, only at higher speeds do I get the over cooling effect. when the trans shifts out of O/D and the motor sits at the higher RPM the temp really starts to drop.

That's wierd because you can usually tell the fan clutch is bad, but I suppose it could only be acting up at higher speeds.
