Temp Gauge

Where should the temperature gauge read? I have a 94 Toyota pickup 22re. It is reading only around 1/4 off the cold mark.

I have replaced:
timing chain
water pump
belts
plugs
plug wires
distributor cap
rotor
adjusted timing with the connections jumpered will run correctly only at 1 degree BTDC (should be 5 degree BTDC)
Seafoam treatment (vacuum and fuel)

I was just wandering if this is the correct temperature, i have a very slight mid range rpm stutter when holding the throttle, but i cant feel anything while normal driving. Just curious if the temperature is right if it may cause the air fuel ratio to cause it to do this? Any ideas???

Thanks

After about 5 minutes of running (getting to operating temp.), mine shows right about in the center of the guage. After that it doesn't really change between 0 and 100 mph...

I don't know how the later trucks are, but there are some indications that the temp gauge is elecrically "dampened".. That is, it sits right in the middle within a specific range of temp and only jumps outside that when overheating or really cool..

Measure the resistance on your temp sender when cold and then when at running temp, I think I've got the specs around somewhere per FSM.
