Tech guy help me! Broken cam tooth, is it ok?!

Hey guys, a newbie here, but im on my last financial legs for my beloved truck. Hope you tech guys can help, because i havent been geting any responces from others regarding this!

So my distributor seized, with all the goodness that brings.

Has a half chipped cam/drive tooth and a chip off another one.

Do you think putting in a new distributor will be ok with the chipped tooth? Will it misfire or cause problems? I dont really see how as the distributor is free floating and wont cause much to turn. Im THINKNIG it should be ok, as i dont see how it could really cause a bad skip or anything. Im sure the other teeth or the simple momentum will be enough to keep the thing turning properly. But no one i know has seen this and can say for sure.

now getting a new gear shimmed and installed is a terrible price of nearly 1000$ all in all. I dont have that money, nor do we have the know how on how to PROPERLY do it......this is a week after my last $$$$ went to fixing a leaky water pump which i included the timing belt..........

Any thoughts guys? Pleeeeeeeeeeeease tell me it should be ok.....

90 v6 auto.

It's just another, bigger, problem waiting to happen if you don't fix it properly now. Do what peterng said and find a cheap replacement somewhere. It will save you a ton of money in the long term.
