Tailgate window motor mod

I know the title sounds stupid, this worked for me. Had issues w/ my motor
for the tailgate window, motor was fine but the gear was worn down so it just spun and didn't put the window up or down.
So had and idea that if I put my passenger rear power window motor in there as long as the gear was the same because this is the leased used window.

It worked perfect except the button is opposite so up is now down.
then I found a used passenger motor and I'm back to normal.

ps I find door windows are easyer to find than tailgate ones.

I was just looking on ebay for one.
The driver and passenger motors are mirrored. A picture of the rear glass motor matches the driver side window motor. But you used the passenger side?

Driver side motors from many Toyota vehicals will work quite well for the rear gate. I don't remember the years but I think it was mid 80's to late 90's. My 4Runner rear gate has been working flawlessly for 5 years thanks to a 89 Celica GTS donor motor $10 bucks
