alright first of all my tailgate would not open. then one day one of my fat friends opened it and sat on it.....then it would not close.... i finally got one side to close(after putting duct-tape on the metal thing the tailgate locks onto when you close it---i did this to both sides)and still only one side will close.. any help?

 

is it binding on somthing or is the linkage rusted?

 

happened to me on my old pickup....took it apart and noticed the link was broke

 

forgot to ask is the handle in good shape?

Our f-150 has a broken tailgate handle so only the right side is effected by the lever action. I had to disingauge the other side so it would still work.

 

lever is fine(to my knowledge) and nothings rusted or anything i will take it apart tomarrow. what should i look for?
