Tailgate elec connector detached in body.

Tailgate elec connector detached in body.

I was swapping out the tailgate on my 95 4runner, and the electical connector under the body was stuck. I was tugging on it trying to free it and unfortunately i got half of the connector out. The chassis side of the connection is still inside the access hole invisible to me. Any tips on how to free this so i can plug in the tailgate connector.

Pull the plastic trim off the inside.

Did you manage to break the clips that hold the plug together or pull the wires out??

Fortunately i just broke the little clip that holds the two sides of the electrical connection together. I will try pulling the inside panel to see if i can access the other end of the plug. thanks for your input.

Thanks for the tips. I was able to access the chassis side plug behind the panel and connect the tailgate plug. Everything works properly, including the rear window motor. It was a bit sluggish at first, but i took it slow and got it to go all the way up and down. The rest of the truck's paint looks like crap, so i just hit the tailgate with a rattlecan, and it is good to go.
