So this Saturday I swapped out my old wheels and tires for a set of sr5 wheels and 31" ATs.
After I get to about 35mph I hear a loud clicking and cannot figure out where it is coming from. It is from the passenger side. I removed the wheels from both sides and retorqued them to specs. Still makes a sound as though some thing was hitting the caliper or like a bolt is stuck in the tire. It's neither.

I tried to install a set of rims on a truck and the tire weight was hitting the tie rod. Some can have little clearance. I am assuming you are meaning the aluminum SR5 rim. I have never had a aluminum rim out of round or basically bent, but I have had metal rims to be bent. Might want to have the rim put on a tire balancing machine and see if it is straight and true.

Hmm I'll check the weights out and see if that's the case. I may even switch one of the wheels around and see if that does anything.

The noise maybe caused by shot wheel bearings.

So I swapped wheels thinking maybe one was off balance or warped but it didn't fix anything. I pulled the hub off and checked the bearings. Everything was in great shape. Now it's more like a rattling like a rock in a tin can spinning around. I'm out of ideas

Think the idler would be making noise?
It gets worse when I turn.
I bought an older today and I'm going to swap it out anyways.

So it's not only when going over 30mph but when I turn the wheel left while moving

If you have your rims balanced using the flat stick on weights that go on the inside of the rim, they could be clipping your caliper, I have had that happen before. Made a nice tick tick noise.

This is definitely a rattling noise now.
I've climbed underneath it a few times with no leads.
It's the old fashioned style weights on the wheels and nothing it touching them.

I mentioned dust shield did you ever check? Sometimes it's easy to bend them to where they only barely touch when turning or driving. I've also had rocks get stuck between the rotor and dust shields on various vehicles

your 100% sure its not the new thread on tires rubbing on something body related? And check your rim clearance at all angles of the steering. I mean those are the new parts you've put on, makes most sense that's what makes said noise.

Hey guys,

Checked the dust shields 3 times, removed te wheels up front and checked to make sure nothing was worn or loose. No running at all. Imaging taking a metal rod and putting something metal like a big washer around it and spinning it. That's the sounds it's making. Locked the guns to see if anything would change and it made no difference.

Put the old tires back on and see if the noise goes away. If it doesn't then it defiantly didn't have anything to do with the tire change

I'd just start checking everything. You said you checked the wheels and the brakes, but have you actually rotated tires? What about checking all your moving parts that aren't steering - stuff like CV axle, wheel bearings, CV/needle bearings, maybe even your hub gears or even see if the c-clip came off your CV. Just throwing suggestions out there.

I rotated the tires 2times now. Replaced the idler arm, checked the wheel bearings and hub on the side making noise. The only other thing I can think of is the cv. My friend has an extra one laying around so I'm going to swap that out and see if that does it.
