tachometer install help (pic included)

here is a picture under the hood to show you what im workin with:



which wire is my "signal" or "sender" wire for my tachometer so that it functions properly. Thanks mucho.

it's the coil

but I couldn't help ya there; my 91 just has the cylinder style coil with just a + and - lead, and on that type you install you signal wire to the tach (normaly a green wire) to the - on the coil

but that style looks to have just 2 wires, probably just a + and -, so just probe them and see which ones hot with the ignition on. Whichever one has 12v to it, use the other wire!

... uh... the one that has 12v doesn't change- it always has 12v....
Unless I missed something somewhere, the igniter (points for the others) opens and closes the ground, thus providing the trigger for a tach.

okay so see the two wire plug? theres a black wire with a white tracer and a black wire with a red tracer. One of those it keyswitch power and the other one is a sender wire?

not so much a "sender wire", but it's the ground to the coil to complete the circut. that's the wire you want to hook you tach signal wire to

wire on the tach or coil? the wire on the tach that goes to the coil is normally green...

hey what's the latest on 1972TLC; haven't heard anything new in a while; just curious
