Front Axles??

I have completely disasembled the driver-side hub, axle, spindle and have a question. i had a noise when the hubs were locked fron the dirver-side and thought it was the hub. The hub and bearing looked ok, but the brass bushing on the inner-side of the spindle, that the axle rides on was dry, no grease and i wonder if this can be worn to the point that it need to be replaced? It has some slight scorring, but not bad. The axle seems to be a bit loose in the spindle, but i can not imagine the the light scorring would creat any play.

I would say that that is the downfall of these front ends. That bushing gets dry then it wears. You can get a replacement from toyota that is a bearing instead. I did it to my truck on one side and it worked great. It was not cheap though, like $200 for the kit.

You could try greasing the bushings, I don't know how long it would last though. With manual hubs yours are probably not as worn as most would be. If you want to replace them the part numbers are in this thread. https://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech...imrockford.htm

Lol $200 on IFS parts in the front end...
Hell that would buy a 84-85 solid front axle for me and I would be 1/4 way to a sas.
I would suggest getting the part from a junkyard much cheaper.
