A/T Temp Oil Light Came On While Driving

I was driving at about 50kmh and had to mash the pedal to the floor before I missed my turn. When the RPM's jumped past 4000rpms, noticed my A/T Temp oil came on (flickered) but only for a split second. Before my last turn, mashed the pedal again just to see if it comes on again and it did. Tranny seems to be fine, shifts smoothly, hopefully its nothing serious....lol! What do you guys think it could be? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Fred

Well I am going to assume that were are talking about your 91 runner since that is marked as your daily driver. With that being said, I do believe that the tranny fluid cools through your radiator. There should be two hard rubber or metal? lines that go into the bottom of your radiator. If your radiator has not been cleaned or flushed recently I would start with that. Being that, if you radiator is not cooling properly, then it will be working even hard to cool both, your antifreeze and your tranny fluid.

Now as far as the filter, I do beileve it is in the pan of the tranny. So you will have to open her up to change that. However, I am not positive on that, it's been a little bit since I have messed with one.

If you find that it seems that the radiator is working harder than it should, You could look into an external tranny cooler (b&m google it) and cap the lines to your radiator so it does not work as hard.

Sounds to me like this is probably an issue with the temp sensor and/or circuit. The AT light doesn't come on until upwards of 300 degrees F...you'd know if the tranny was that hot.

Loose electrical connection that is getting additional stress applied from something pushing against it when the skinny pedal is mashed?

I did do a headunit install and had the dash apart several times.

Checked the fluid, everything's, it's clean and full. Also checked the rad and it looks like it's leaking from the top, it's not much.
