Supra AFM swap...better all around
I did the 82 supra afm to 22re swap and noticed the truck run smoother and a little more torque on the hills around here, also it seems to have more of a snappy throtle. I was surprised at the gains of this swap, I also had no trouble codes at all, plug and play. Next I think a 3inch aluminum intake tube and bigger throttle body..............

the throttle body is like 2.75 inches, and the 82 supra afm part # is 22250-43110,plug and play...... easy man, make sure if you get one its got the stock round bracket on the filter side of the afm, it bolts on the face it will make it easier to connect a air filter, call All toyota junkyard in Buckley,Wa 360-829-9760 thats where I got mine................

Duperman, I swapped my battery and intake with some battery cable extensions from Autozone. Then I bought the Spectre 3" hose crap at Autozone. Use a heat gun and the rubber ends will slide over the MAF and TB very tightly for a nice snug fit.
I run smaller tires than diablo, but I noticed a LOT of power increase. A hill I used to take back home at 35 in a 55 in 3rd, I can now go 60 up in 4th.

i found a late 80s supra at a local junkyard and it had the non turbo 7mge motor...well long story short...got the AFM....swapped her on...same plug...but it ran REALLY rich...burning my eyes...took it off...did i need to run it a lil for the comp to read it???

You can also use an AFM from a mid 80`s cressida, it has the same part number and that`s what i used when i did the AFM swap and it was plug and play.
Another swap im looking into is an upper intake swap from a 90 22RE, it uses the straight upper intake manifold and the throttle body opening is 3'', the idle air control is built into the throttle body so you can remove the stock electric idle air control because its no longer needed.

Wish I'd done this instead of the reman'd stock Denso. Oh well. It's running just fine, regardless. Maybe in another 100k or two when this'n is worn out.

You can find a good used AFM for fifty dollars or less, so its not an expensive mod to buy when you have some extra money.

Lol.......yeah, I know. I've done the reading, mostly. It's not the money, though. It's just that I already have a new unit. But, I'm keeping it on the back burner for when it's time. Maybe by then I'll also be able to get my hands on a turbo set up.

Be careful there, from the Supra's only 82 is plug and play. The other years you have to re-solder in the 22R-E circuit board into the Supra AFM. I think all other years except 82 read the signals quite differently, hence your troubles.
