Stuttering Acceleration??

Howdy all, so lately my 4Runner has been stuttering during acceleration, almost like the cylinders are missing. I replaced the plugs and plug wires, and the issue went away for about a week and now it's doing it again. I will say that I'm not sold on the wires I got, they seem kind of loose, but they stay on (barely), and the weirdest part is that it's idling fine, it's only during acceleration that it starts acting up. So...any ideas? Thanks guys!

try the "Search" feature

better yet, just click here.

I myself even posted a thread about this and what I found out was my problem; click here and check it out.

Welcome to YT BTW!

Those were some good threads, but I'm not sure those are the issues, the first is because unlike the NOS link, my 4Runner actually starts acting up more the warmer it gets. The other is related to me replacing the valve cover gaskets a few months back, where I also took the opportunity to replace all the hoses and clean the intake/injectors, so I doubt that's it (and for the record they kind of looked like yours, BIG difference after I got done with them). I'm going to try to replace the wires with a more trustworthy set, but I fear it may be a bigger problem like the distributor, we'll see.

I'd try the wires and have you looked at the valve clearances? if those are off it could give that during acceleration... my 87 did that last month actually.
