stripped bolt on the manual transmission
hello i just changed all my fluids except for the manual transmission fluid because the bolt that is used to fill and check the level is stripped.i hope someone has a suggestion to help me out please,on the lighter side i purchased the 4runner last week and while i was replacing the oil filter the old one was the wrong filter so i switched the filter with the right one.

That fill bolt sucks, it's hard to get at with any tools. You can try Vicegrips, or try filing new flats on the bolt. Another option is a get cold chisel and try and dig into the side of it, and then bang it loose.
If you can't get it out I've heard you can refill the tranny by removing the shifter, not an ideal option though.

yea it took me a lot of heating, swearing and sweat but once it came off I was happier than a pig in ˟˟˟˟˟...here was the bolt pre-heating..BTW: Vicegrips work worth crap dont even bother, you can't get enough torque.

I have the same problem on my 92. If I remember correctly the bolt on my 95 was differnt, same one as the drain. Will this bolt fit in the fill hole. I am not sure which tranny it is, but its a 5spd 22re 4wd.
I have to pull the tranny in may to do a clutch so I am going to tackle it then. But since I have to replace the bolt I want a better one in there. And who knows how old my tranny fluid is..
