Strange problem with battery light

So heres my problem, and its not even so much of a problem as it is an annoyance. Sometimes when I start my truck the battery light comes on. but if I shut the truck off and restart it it goes out.

Its got a brand new Optima Red top and a Brand new Alternator, I'm not to sure what it might be. Anyone have any guess's?

You may have a band ground or wiring somewhere, replacing your alternator and battery obviously didn't solve all of your problem. Quite often people replace everything in their charging system over bad wiring.

I didn't replace the alt and battery because of this light. I replaced because they needed replaced. And I have had the alt tested its fine.

It only does it once in awhile. Its not really a big deal just a bit annoying.

Usually the battery light comes on due to a low charge signal from the alternator. So something is amiss with the wiring if you say the alternator is ok. Possibly if you have a high electrical load when you start the truck, i.e. blower motor and stereo are on, the light may stay on till you rev the engine a little. Any vehicle I've had, thats hads the battery light come on once and while, always became more frequent till there was an alternator failure.

Did you replace it with a Toyota Alternator? Sometimes the Aftermarket alternators do crazy things. I've seen Aftermarket alternators that test fine and charge properly but the won't turn off the dash lights. Usually the brake, charging and check engine light stay lit. Toyota electrical systems don't generally like non Toyota components.

Of course the bad ground or corrision in the wiring could be the problem as stated above.

Keep us posted with what you find.

Its it the Charging light that lights up, I think it may have something to do with my idle. Because I noticed that it only comes on once in a while whens its reaally cold out, and the idle is low for a second, then and the idle goes up it seems to return to normal.

I'm gonna try a few things with it tomorrow I'll report back with what I find. Thanks to all those who have replyed thus far.

That sounds like the belt is loose.
