so im trying to get the steering arm off, i got the nuts, washers, and whatever u call the things under the washers. it coems up bout 1/2 an inch but wont coem off. do i have to take off the 4 nuts on the other side of the ball joint?

Its likely just sticking in the bearing. Once you have those 4 nuts and cone washers off, it should pop off with a little convincing.

 

Its stuck in the bearing. Persuade it to turn loose with a BFH.

 

well first i tried a 9 lb sledge, that didnt work, so i brougt out the big 20 lb, still didnt so i stopped cuz i didnt wanna break anything. ill go hit it like i got a pair now that i know it wont break it

 

yep u guys were right just had to hit it with a little mmf. im havin trouble gettin the cone washers off the other one tho. ive hit it with panther piss but still cant get them outta there. any suggestions?

 

Heat it up.

Or blue wrench it off and buy some new 6 stud knuckles

 

Taking off cone washers is easy with no need for violence, heat or swearing.

Soak with PB Blaster liberally. Give it a couple minutes. If gunked up with dirt and mud, clean them off with a brush and shop air, then soak with PB.

Using a brass drift (a brass bar so you don't booger threads or dent things that don't need or have to be dented, available at just about any auto parts store) and the BFH tap the top of the steering arms in several spots.

Tap the top of the knuckle studs.

Tap the underside of the steering arms.

Repeat until they pop loose and then you can pull them off by hand.

Nothing to it.
