Stolen Catalytic Converter - Please Help

A couple of tweaker losers stole my catalytic converter today while I was at work. I'm not sure exactly what is missing, so I took a few pics in hopes that someone could tell me exactly what I need (specific type of converter, O2 sensors, etc...). It's a 94 4runner w/ a V6 and they didn't saw it off... they just unscrewed the 4 bolts. It's a California 4runner and I've been having a tough time trying to figure out exactly which part(s) I need. 1 part converter? 2 part converter? O2 sensor? Also... if it's just the converter, can I just buy it and bolt it in myself? Any special installation required? Thanks a lot, in advance. Appreciate any advice. Here's a pic:

Try cat-recert places. All you will need is the new cat, and 4 bolts/nut plates. No O2 sensors needed, those are further up in the system.

Thank your lucky stars tho, most of the time they cut em.

btw, searching finds these threads

Thank you. I actually already searched the older threads, but I already know why it was stolen, and why my particular make/model is an attractive option for a thief. What I really need to know (since I don't remember what the bottom of my truck looks like) is what parts were taken. From the previous replies it looks like all I'm missing is a cat that'll fit a 94 v6 4runner, along with the mounting hardware, right?

Beautiful! And do I have to search for a cat for my make/model alone, or do I also have to specify it's a California car?

Thanks to everyone for the help and info. I really appreciate it. I initially thought I was looking at least a $500 deductible for fixing it, but it sounds like I can pick up a replacement for under $200 and bolt on myself. THANK YOU!

I notice that there are 2 versions: one for California emissions and one for federal emissions. You chose the federal emissions version. Can anyone tell me the difference? My 4runner was purchased in CA so I'm assuming it has CA emission controls on it. What will happen if I install the less expensive, "federal emissions" version? Still confused here....

you could always do the extremely cheap repair and use a peice of exhaust pipe.

work up some michigan exhaust.

Check the underhood sticker, it will tell you if its Cal. or Federal emissions.
federal is probably a 2 way, meaning it has 2 catalysts
cal spec is three way having three catalysts

Under my hood states that it conforms to California regulations and is OBD 1 certified. I still don't know what this means w/ regard to replacing the cat. Can anyone out there tell me:

1) Do I need a cat that specifically states "California Emissions?" for the vehicle to run properly?

2) If not, will I run into any problems when it comes time to get the truck smogged if I go w/ a "Federal Emissions" cat?

Thanks a lot!

Spend the extra cash for the correct converter, it wouldn't hurt the performance but it definately would not pass the smog test with the federal converter

Update on Stolen Cats

The two %*^&%'s that stole my cat have been caught, and the DA has decided to prosecute so it looks like these guys will get what's coming to them. Burglary and grand theft-auto. None of the cats were recovered, but I'm still happy that they will probably spend some time behind bars.

Thanks again for the advice and info, I decided to go w/ a Car Sound universal cat that's approved for California vehicles and I'm welding it on this time (and trying to figure out how to booby-trap it).
