starting problem
I know this has been covered a thousand times, I have read all the posts. I just need a straight answer or input before I resort to buying a new battery as a last hope or beating the crap out of this thing with a bat. The truck ran fine as usual, next morning, a single big click and wouldn't start. Tried hitting the solenoid, nothing. Checked and cleaned all connections, still no start. Replaced copper contacts and cleaned plunger, no start. Jump started, no start. Had the starter tested and it tested fine. Tried jumping the main power connection on the starter to the solenoid spade connector straight from the battery, no start but it did clicks like the battery would be dead, not just one big click. The battery though was showing a full 12v. I'm not thinking it would be the relay because power was getting down to the starter, not really sure about the ignition switch or coil tho. I'm going to get a new battery and see if that does anything tomorrow but seeing as it still wouldn't start despite being jumped leaves me frustrated. Any input would be appreciated

If your battery is reading 12V via Multimeter
It would not hurt to have your battery checked under load . How old is it??
your starter checked good
It can be only one thing since you tried jumping battery voltage to starter solenoid.
It would not crank from jumping.
For what ever reason you have a bad ground from what you have posted
Could be bad battery terminal corroded or cracked The ground cables loose where they attach to the block.
The cables themselves are just old or brittle from age.
In the past I have run a ground to the lower starter bolt

If the starter motor will not manually jump/crank(VIA running a jumper wire from the starter to the battery or a "screw driver") then I would suspect a faulty starter motor.

I would like to say the battery is about 1 1/2-2 years old and the ground to the block is cleaned and tight. I hooked up the battery cables to a jumper vehicle and tried starting and it rapidly clicked like the battery would be dead. so im going to give a new battery a shot. I have looked at the hot shot starter relay but i dont really understand it. granted I havent really read detail for detail on it

My occasional problem is it takes three turns of the key to get the 92 22RE to turn over and fire. Brand new battery. Electrical system checked good by auto parts store. Ideas?
