Starting my auto to 5 speed mod
Just wanted to post cause I'm pretty excited. I found a 5 speed tranny/ transfer case, and a new in box clutch kit and flywheel and a pedal assembly and so far it's only cost me $300. I have a buddy that is going to give me an ECU (I may not swap the ecu because in Ca I would have to go to the referee to get it smogged so I might just jump the necessary ports on the ecu). I also have some other misc parts to do the swap. All I need to do is find the rear driveline or take it to the local driveline shop to be fitted and pay about $200. BTW the tranny also came with the front driveline and cross member.
The 12mpg from my 3.0 with the auto is killing me (it bothers my wife more so it's a good excuse to spend some tax return money on the swap). I'm also going to pick up some locking hubs. Unfortunately I have to finish my laundry remodel first cause we all know that if mama ain't happy nobody's happy.
I will upload some pics as I progress. Any advice is always appreciated.

I was told that the rear drive line is the same for the auto or the 5 speed. Can someone tell me if that is true cause I can't seem to find a drive line anywhere and don't have the cash at the moment to have it extended.

Auto shaft is shorter. If you can't find a junkyard shaft and don't want to spend the money on a one-piece, you could always use a spacer:

This is going to be awesome, I've had one 3vze in my life before the current one, connected to a 5 speed in a short bed, reg cab 92 pickup. That truck was actually quite fast. My 4runner needs a 5 speed.
