I have a 93 PU, 22RE. 5 spd w/320,000 miles that has recently decided that it intermittantly doesn't want to start.

There doesn't seem to be any particular weather issue that it has in common. The battery has been checked, and is relatively new, with new cable ends. The starter relay has been replaced, and the starter checks out O.K. We even took it to Toyota and they couldn't make it NOT START.

We can drive it normally, park it and then try to restart, and nothing....no clicks, no grind, nothing except buzzers and lights. If we park on an incline or push fast enough, we can 'bump' start it.

Do we have a dead area in the starter that doesn't appear in the check or something else? PLEASE any suggestions?

bad batteries can cause WEIRD problems, I know from personal experience about a month ago. My battery showed 12v across it but it ended up being the battery anyway. do you have another battery you can swap in temporarily? have you taken the battery to pepboys or autozone for a battery test?

 

The battery and starter have both been checked, on and off the truck.
