Starting 340h to R150F swap, speed sensor question

I found this AWESOME write up on the net about the whole swap

http://sites.google.com/site/wastedf...nsmission-swap

Only thing I didnt see was info about the speed sensor. It looks like the 340H has an electrical one and the R150F has a mechanical one. How do you go about setting up the speedo? Is there an interchangeable part out there? I tried searching but came up with dead ends

I know this isnt exactly what your looking for but maybe the people that make this might make something that would work for you. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...l-pics-195986/

Give us some information if you're going to be impatient about a response.

I'm assuming this is in the 4runner listed in your sig, but I hate when I have to make a big assumption like that with something like this.

The A340H that was in my '87 Turbo 4runner had a cable speedo. That cable threaded right into the RF1A tcase that I now have in there.

Inpatient? I posted first thing in the AM and asked again late at night? Assumption of the truck in my sig? Yeah I just post up mod lists and years of vehicles for fun guy.

Anyway WITH OUT THE ATTITUDE=) I the R150F HAS the screw on type speedo, my 340H has the electronic. For the record I def did state that I wanted to FROM mechanical to electrical so unless you know something I don't then I think the question was pretty straight to the point

You might be able to pull out the gear part out of the tranny and then put your electronic one in there. There is a little bolt with a tab that holds it all on there.

I dont know if they can be directly swapped over but its worth a try.

so i just got done doing what u are trying to, the trans that i got for my 4runner had the electric sensor, i found a 5 speed with a cable out put and bought that, it was a strait swap, but i did find out that its off at 60 it shows 55 and at 70 it shows 63 and at 80 it shows 70. but at one time i had found that u can order different gears for like 7 bucks to adjust them as needed, just look for a trans that comes from a trany about the yr your putting in, some have the shall 1'' hole and some have a 2'' hole guessing on size but u get what i mean.

I believe he is doing the opposite. He put a trans with a cable speedo into a truck that originally came with an electronic speed sensor. Please correct me if im wrong. But like you said I believe that you can just switch the gear drive mechanism over.

Ok so with a little searching I think I found what you need. This is an adapter to go from you transfer case. It threads right into your t case and then has a plug for your speedometer. http://www.marlincrawler.com/transfe...eed-sensor-mci

thanks for all of the good info guys, Dras that adapter is pretty sweet, like RMA said though I did look under my buddy's 92 pick up today to find an electronic sensor so I am going to go with that, looks like 92-95 will work in case anyone in the future comes across this thread for answers.

I don't know if you thought of regearing also. You are now geared lower than stock...but I guess you were already lower than stock with auto and 5.71 on 33's. I run 35's with R150F and 5.29 gear.
