starter wire question

question on my starter wires. i have a 92 pickup with 22re in it and my truck cranks and it sounds like it won't want to crank and it suddenly completely stops cranking (still hear a clicking noise when cranking it). the battery is still good. i took the starter to kragen to get it test and the guy says its still good. my question is i notice a wire on one of the starter wire is hanging out. theres a wire i have to bolt in and theres one with a brown plug where i have to plug in. on the brown plug one theres another wire thats hanging by itself. so i was wondering does anybody knows what that wire is ir is it that wire causing it not to crank.

i am kind of confused.. does it crank/turn motor over or not? u said batt is still good have you tried jumping it off of another vehicle? if it makes the tick, tick , tick then it is trying to turn over but does not have the juice.
picts/video??
if i remember right those motors just have the + from the batt and a single wire from the starter relay. so only 2 wires connected to the starter itself. one is a nut washer (from batt +) the other is a wire with a clip inline. so good luck

i had the battery jumping off of another car while i was doing it. the motor cranked like 2 times then it sounds like its dying and completely stops cranking but i can still hear a ticking noise while trying to crank it.

Those clips wear out. I replaced mine when it would crank intermittently and it has been fine ever since.

Your starter contacts might be worn out too. I have to hit mine with a hammer to start sometimes as the contacts are probably worn out and need replacing. :-P
