My son has a 1991 Toyota 4x4 22RE and we are having a starter issue. We thought is was the starter so we replaced. Same symptom. Click, click, click. It seems to be associated with the small wire coming from the ignition switch; specifically the plug on the end of the wire. It has been replaced by previous owner and I would like to replace with the correct “Benzel” end that snaps in. Looking online there are many that seem to be close but I would like to order the correct end. Any idea of what this is callled? Part number? Type? Any help would be appreciated.
Have replaced starter, switch behind the key cylinder on the column. We are hearing a click behind/around the glove box. Attached is a photo of the electrical components there. Is there a solenoid or something here? Obviously I do not have a wiring diagram for this and I’m not sure I’d know what I was looking at if I did. Sorry. . .

The black box is the Circuit Opening Relay (COR). It powers the fuel pump when the key is turned to STArt.
Have you checked for battery voltage on the solenoid wire to the starter? If that wire isn't getting battery voltage with key to STArt, nothing will happen. If you aren't getting enough voltage (often due to some big voltage drop in the wire caused by damage), then the solenoid may "click" or "clunk" but not pull in hard enough to engage the starter.
This is a 1991 Toyota single cab base pickup with a 22RE and 5 speed manual transmission.
There you go. A problem well-stated is almost solved.
Let's start with this... Do you see this in driver side kick panel? If you do, please do checks in picture.
