Stamping On The Igniter

I switched from the 94 Igniter with the stamping of 208 to a 90 Igniter Coil and Igniter with the stamping 147. It is not firing. Does anybody know if the ECM reads from the original igniter and cause a no spark condition.

Igniters change over the years.

When you go to start, the igniter handles firing the spark plugs itself, with no feedback from the ECU. Once the engine starts, the igniter hands control of timing over to the ECU. It's possible different ECU's handle igniters differently.

I would think that igniters with different part numbers don't work the same.
