spring over conversion for 2wd

I have a 92 toyota 2wd pickup, and I want to buy a spring over conversion kit, if one exists. Any suggestions? i can't find anything.

Hmm. I think all you need is longer U-bolts. Grind some stuff. Weld some stuff...and thats pretty much it. I hope you don't need longer brake lines, as they seem to get pretty pricey

Welcome to the forums.

I would normally blast the s__t out of you for asking what seems to be a really dumb question, but I"m going to give you the benefit of the doubt. But you have a SERIOUS amount of learning to do before you ask questions like that.

Your '92 Taco does not have a front axle, and the rear is already spring-over.

Ahem, good thing you didn't blast him because if it's a 92 it's not a Taco, just a good old Toyota pickup.

You will need to cut off the old spring perches and weld new ones on top of the axle. Another thing to think about is that you will probably need to add a leaf or two because putting the springs on top of the axles adds a lot of torque to the leaf springs and you will get some nasty axle wrap (unless your 2wd is a 1 ton, then you might be fine).

If you aren't confident in your welding skills this is a project best left for a professional, as you don't want your axle to let go on the highway because you bought a welder at Harbor Freight and decided to "git 'r' done" or whatever. I know you can buy bolt on spring over kits for Samurai's from Rocky Road outfitters but I don't believe they make on for a Toy, and I would go the weld on route myself personally. Some things just shouldn't be bolted on and imo a spring over conversion definitely falls in that category.

Also you can extend your rear brake line with another stock brake line because they are male-female. About $14 at NAPA.

Im not sure if the widths are the same (im pretty sure) you could probibly swap in a 4x4 rear axle, run 4.10 or 4.56 gears.

Then get a nice set of 4wd springs. The front will be hard to match for lift.

Wow, get off your high horse and educate yourself a little more before you talk about "blasting the s__t" out of someone for asking a legitamate question like that. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about so save yourself the embarrasment and just lurk for a while maybe you'll learn a thing or two. Thats what the forums are for. Oh, and where in the original post did he mention anything about a front axle?

I was thinking about this too but wasnt sure if you could match the 6 lug 4WD rear axle with some sort of six lug front conversion since the 2WD is 5 lug. I guess you could just run 5 lug wheels in the front and 6 lug in the rear. Not sure I'd want to do that though.
