Spindle / Bearing Question
Yes another bearing question.... sorry
just replaced front wheel bearings on an 86 runner w/free wheel hubs due to slop, but still not fixed. positive that it is bearing,rotor,spindle related
My question is, how much slop is typical between the bearing & spindle?
Is another race that rides between or is the spindle worn?
do i just have to tighten further? I did not use preload technique
these are what i replaced so far...
LM102949 bearing TIMKEN
LM102910 race "
JLM104948 bearing "
JLM104910 race "
25968 inner bearing seal NAPA
Does anyone have technical drawings of this configuration?

Doesn't really make sense to me to replace a bearing and not follow proper procedure then ask a ? for help or advise but I'll try to help you anyway.

by no means am defending my poor judgement in what i did, but this is a truck i plan on tearing down & basically rebuilding this summer instead of buying a newer one.
unable to obtain the proper size socket that was thin enough to fit inside the rotor housing was the last straw for me. the garage was full, snowing & my knees were frozen to the ground. so i used a chisel.
my intention wasn't a perminant fix, just buy another month before i tear it down. i really do have a concept of preperation & precision.

i reviewed the steering knuckle doc & determined that i'm not missing anything.
My next question is... how do i obtain the "diameter measurement specs" for the spindle (where the bearings ride/float specifically)?
