Speedometer sensor 83181-35051
I purchased a speed sensor from the dealer.
It came without the gear and clip. Anyone have experience in removing the old gear? I do not want to damage the clip or gear upon removal and placement.
I expected the clip and gear to be included for the price.
Thanks for any assistance

Thanks , seems easy enough to replace. The current gear looks usable no damage on the plastic, just yellow in color, aged.
But what if I wanted a new gear? Where would I purchase the gear and what information needs to be provided ?
The Toyota dealer who sold me the sensor was not able to order the gear. He said. does not show a part number.
Thanks for any assistance.

Try http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/...modelYear=1994
ideally, you'd find a dealer site like this one that starts from your VIN

Thanks for the link.
I was able to use the old gear on the new speed sensor. The gear is 6, 20.
The problem of the mph needle and the two odometers not registering the cars movement has not been corrected. I will change the gear and move on to the three wire cable. I could not find a write up.
What else could be the problem?

Before you change the gear, lie underneath the truck and spin it with your fingers. If the speedo still doesn't register, it's not the gear.
You can check for 12v and ground on the connector. If you have a square wave generator (unlikely, but I did) you can check the speedometer gauge directly.
