Speedo quit working. 93 pickup.

My friend has a 93 2wd hilux pickup that he got for very cheap. It has had a few issues but most have been fixed. One issue that has not been resolved yet and actually got worse this morning is the speedometer. Ever since he has had it when you flip the turn signals the speedo drops to 0 and back to speed real quick. Well today it did not work at all but for a few seconds on the way to his work. We are thinking this is an electrical issue but what? A ground? Since the signals make it jump too?

Start simple. Check the fuses under the dashboard. I had a similar problem, and it ended up being a loose fuse.

I will let him know. I searched and did not see anything about a similar issue. So I was not sure if it was just a simple fix that no one posted about.
